Red English telephone
In the Bilingual Section we wanted to give a modern twist to the 25th anniversary of Condesa Eylo. To do so, we drew the “Countess” using a projector and a more traditional “comic” style and decided to put her in a large, bright red English telephone booth.
Students from different classes collaborated to paint the images, and finish the telephone booth. In the Countess’ speech bubble, she enthusiastically exclaims, “You know I turn 25 in June…. That’s a quarter of a century. Makes a girl think!” We challenged the students to discover what actor or actress said the line, and in what movie. The students were then able to participate in a drawing where the three winners each took home a giant bag of popcorn and a traditionally English treat—Nerds. We were pleased with the students’ involvement in the activity and the final product.
