They tend to get lions , wolves , skulls , eagles , tigers , monsters as well as lettering with phrases like “ Only God can judge me .” But the art is varied and the designs done in Nirvana get quite complex and bold .

Now after six years of war there is an added dimension of darkness that also runs deep . It makes for some intense imagery in body art . Young people might get a tattoo with the image of a friend or lover who was killed … in Okba ’ s words , “ War and tattoos of dead people .” They want their bodies to be living memorials . The symbolism can often be mysterious and religious .
