I was always interested in tattoos . The only thing was , for me , I wanted to be able to show that persona to the team that I was going to play for that I didn ’ t have tattoos . You would get judged based on how you looked . Once I got into the league I was like “ Ok , I ’ m here now ,” so there ’ s no point in worrying about it now . I got my first tattoo maybe five or six years ago . Now I have two sleeves , my whole back , my side , half my chest and now I trying to figure out what to do next . It ’ s been an awesome process .
From the time you came into the league until now , has there been a change in the amount of people you ’ ve seen getting tattoos ? You know , things change based on the times . I think now you see more players that have tattoos . I think a lot of these young players that are not even in the league yet , in college and some even in high school are starting to have more tattoos . I don ’ t think that means anything . I feel like you can be as free as you want to be . A lot of these tattoos have things to do with faith , for your loved ones and those types of things . It ’ s definitely been getting bigger over time and it ’ s going to continue to get bigger because people just love tattoos . It ’ s almost weird if you don ’ t have a tattoo . That ’ s a good point . It ’ s like when Iverson first came into the NBA that ’ s when things gradually began to change in basketball . So it ’ s noticeable over time that more rookies coming into the league are coming in inked up .
If you look at all the guys who are the key role players of the NFL , the guys that are represented by the shield like Antonio Brown and James Harrison . Guys like them who when you look at them you ’ re like “ Oh , that ’ s the NFL .” Those guys all have tattoos and every kid wants to have tattoos . It ’ s just become more and more prevalent . I think we may have two or three guys on my team who have zero tattoos ; maybe five . It ’ s
