So let’s start at the beginning. You’re from Canada and the band has
been together since 2003?
No, 2002! The original lineup. It’s changed back and forth. Right now me
and Wally. We are the original members. Later on members changed.
Typical band stuff like drummers jumping out of the back of a moving van.
Changing members, we took a hiatus a couple of times. Cancer tried to
kill us a couple of times.
Was that Wally?
Yea, it seems to like him. The first time it was a summer. It was the sum-
mer of 2007-2008. We had just finished and released Phase 2: Amidst
The Madness and the anguish was going through the radio play Anger Is
Creeping was getting. It was taking on a life of it’s own with no radio pro-
mo, no promoter, didn’t have management, publicist, nothing! Really on
it’s own. Until today I’m still getting royalties from radio on that song. It’s
still out there (laughs) A week before the tour Wally was acting strange
and finally he said I have to talk to everybody. We were all excited, we
had this RV and we were ready to go. Tour posters, merch, you name it.
Festivals to play at and he drops the C Bomb. We were like “didn’t you
know this?” and he said he just got his test results. We were like “Oh fuck,
what do we want to do?”We just thought we’ll piss of a couple of pro-
moters, but we’ll stay home. We can always tour next year if need be. He
said “if you guys don’t mind. Let’s just record the next record” He lived
upstairs and the studio was down stairs and we all moved in and lived to-
gether that summer.
Through The Heart Of The Infidel came out which was an even stronger
record and he was better so we started touring locally and the big stuff
came in. We had a manager at this point, publicist, booking agent, you
name it. It was a machine at that point. We were winning awards for it
and BAM! Two years later one week before the tour he drops the C Bomb.
We were like are you kidding? Is this a prank? The first time around, he
went through the system, have health care here which is beautiful, but
