Let’s go back to the
beginning. How
many years, formal
training etc
I’ve been tattooing
10 years. Art back-
ground, I was always
the kid drawing in
class, drawing and
making art. I guess
I was the kid known
as the artist so it’s to nobody’s surprize when I see people 15 years later
and they say “oh, you’re a tattoo artist, that doesn’t surprise me”
No art school training, so everything I know is self taught. In the past 5
years especially, I go to Youtube and watch a million videos. That’s what I
did with digital art. I got a tablet and said I’m gonna go on here and watch
videos and tutorials .. and a lot of trial and error (laughs)
That’s what I did with photography. I never read a how to book till this
day (and it shows) I just shot thousands of rolls of film until I developed
my style to be able to fool everyone for 35-40 years.
When I was young, say middle school and high school, I wanted to be a
photographer and I actually had an apprenticeship with a photographer in
my home town and ended up with him for years learning darkroom pro-
cedures and all of that. He taught me a lot about film too so before I got
