When you were coming up were there certain types of stigmatisms attached to tattoos ? Yeah , definitely . Even back then when I was like 14 or 15 it was still really frowned upon . It was really strange if you saw someone with 2 full sleeves or a couple piercings in their face . This was before all of the TV shows got famous . So it was considered acceptable . I think people would stare if they saw something like that walking down the street ; not like it is now .
How would you describe the transition from how things were back then compared to now ? Usually I keep my tattoos covered anyway but if it ’ s summertime and I ’ m out people are so intrigued by it and interested . It ’ s actually seen as cool I guess . I remember when I was younger and dressing in all black clothes , black makeup and having tons of piercings . You were just looked at as a weirdo . It ’ s really kind of crazy how much it ’ s changed .
Do you think that the exposure that has come from TV shows that have centered around the tattoo lifestyle has had some level of impact on that transition ? Do you think there are other factors that have made people with tattoos or people doing tattoos more acceptable ?
