21st Century Thought January 2014 | Page 4

When I first came up with the idea of this magazinve severalmonths ago, I never would have imagined it would be where it is today. A quick investigation into the various philosophical magazine out there I felt as though there was something missing. After meeting with several like-minded individuals this magazine was concieved, and has been the product of many days of hardwork. Focusing primarily on the theme of aesthetics inregards to philosophy this magazine hopes to challenge the idea of materialism and consumerism as being a primarily negative concept.

Aesthetics is the branch of philosoph that deals with the nature of art, and beauty and the creating and appreciating of beauty. Of course this branch of art and beauty also covers music, film, theatre, mixed media, fashion, architectural and interior design. Our project for our primeir issue was to look into several topics passionate to all of the members of our team, and these include; The Dove Beauty Campaign, Censorship in Art and our main centrefold an exploration of the Hermes brand and the social, economical and philosophical effects of this brand as a major company of the luxury industry.

I would like to give thanks to all those that contributed on this issue such as my great working staff and the members of Dove and Hermes. Also a great big thank you to our readers, without you, this one of this would not be possible.
