Do you wish that your employees could come to work with a smile on their face every day and truly enjoy the work they do daily? Find out how to use the Lessons from a Mouse and what happened within our school community when we implemented the ten lessons learned. Pump up the fun, support each other, and in doing so, support children and families! Sydney Gurwitz Clemens said, “Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.” This session will emphasize the importance of art in early literacy instruction as well as provide "make it, take it" projects you can take back and incorporate in your own classrooms. Come ready to participate and share ideas. Effective discipline is truly an art! Creativity and ingenuity are needed to discipline children effectively. This session is designed to give you practical tools of handling classroom disruptions, inappropriate behavior and keeping children focused on the task at hand. It is essential to focus on creating a positive environment and using positive communication techniques. This interactive session provides participants the necessary tools to think creatively and establish an environment where learning is fun and exciting for children. The different states of baby alertness will be shared. Together we will role play listening to and conversing with infants and share feedback. Presenter: Wendy Ferkany Age Focus: I Main Topic: Language & Literacy The Elephant in the Room: Trauma in the Workplace Session Code: S312 Whether from tragic life events, trying to survive on a next-to-nothing salary, or compassion fatigue many early childhood educators are silently suffering from trauma. It doesn't have to be this way! This session equips participants with the tools to identify trauma in adults and create "trauma- informed workplaces", resulting in lower staff turnover and greater job satisfaction.
