Emerald Isle.
FOUNDERS / SHIBUMI SHADE
Two brothers, Dane and Scott, and their best friend, Alex, grew up visiting
Emerald Isle every summer for family vacations—their favorite week of
the year. Their families rented Breezy Cottage (and many others) through
Emerald Isle Realty. During these annual trips, they realized that flimsy
beach umbrellas and bulky tents were interfering with their vacation time.
After more than a year of late nights, design changes, testing, improvements
(and teaching themselves how to sew!), the Shibumi Shade was born right
here in Emerald Isle. Today, Shibumi Shades have spread across US beaches
from Emerald Isle to Santa Monica and from Cape Cod to Oahu, and each
Shibumi Shade is made in their home state of North Carolina.
Emerald Isle Realty is proud to feature the Shibumi Shade on our front
cover of Vacations 2020.
