Whether you're a chef in the making or a newbie, grab your apron and chef's hat and join us to make snacks for yourself and your friends. Your tasty treats will give you the energy to explore all other camp activities as well. The Great Camp Cook-Off* As Julia Child said, "try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all, have fun!" Test your knowledge with various outdoor culinary challenges this week! You'll be cooking or creating a different delight every day. Go on an ingredient scavenger hunt and practice introductory knife skills, learn about measurements, time management, sanitation, and safety. You will have a chance to explore all other camp activities as well. *We will do our best to accommodate any food allergies. Please don’t forget to send lunch with your camper during these sessions! Session 6 August 10-14 Registration Deadline: July 13, 2020 COST: $355 per girl Ocean Explorers Enjoy a hands-on exploration of the marine world around you! Spend your week visiting Gooseberry Beach, learning about the local marine life through a variety of games, activities, and crafts, and do your part by participating in a beach clean-up! You will have a chance to explore all other camp activities as well. Marine Scientists Become a true ocean expert when you come to camp! During your time at camp, you will participate in a variety of activities that teach you about water chemistry and marine life. Become an ocean advocate by participating in a beach clean-up and learning about local marine issues. You will have a chance to explore all other camp activities as well. Leadership Opportunities Program Aide Training (PA-I) This foundational leadership program is for girls who are just starting their leadership journey. PAs mentor younger girls by sharing skills, testing their knowledge and trying out their new roles as budding leaders. Attendees in this program will enjoy traditional camp activities like swimming and hiking while gaining a deeper understanding of what it takes to lead younger campers in a troop or camp setting. Required Experience: None Cost: $259 per week Program Aide Apprenticeship (PA-II) This week-long program is designed to build upon the skills built through participation in Program Aide Training (PA-I). Girls will discover the basics of planning and leading programs that can be applied to troop and camp settings. This experience will provide girls with skills needed for conflict resolution and group management. These future leaders will also learn about individual learning styles along with the developmental characteristics of younger campers. Girls will complete their 6 activity sessions to earn their PA pin and will be pinned at the end of the week. Required Experience: Program Aide Training or Day Camp Program Aide Training (PA-I) Cost: $259 per week Counselor In Training (CIT) II (Grades 11-12) Prepare to become a successful camp counselor by spending the week gaining extensive knowledge of camp programming, team building, administrative duties, and camper behavior management. Applicants must have completed the CIT I program or equivalent. Required Experience: Completion of CIT I Cost: $259 per week Junior Leader (Entering grade 12 only) As a Junior Leader at camp, you will spend your time working directly with campers and staff. Junior Leaders will be assigned to units or assist in program and administration and will have the opportunity to choose the areas they are most interested in. Acceptance to the program is based on the application (sent to you after the registration form is received), references, and a personal interview. Junior Leaders can apply for as many sessions as they wish but must be on-camp for the full session. Required Experience: Completion of Buddy Up Training in 2019 Cost: FREE Counselor In Training (CIT) I (Grades 10-12) Prepare for a camp leadership role by spending the week learning teaching methods and leadership techniques. Girls will discover the basics of planning and leading programs that can be applied to troop and camp settings. You’ll also get real-life experience by working directly with campers.
