Louise Deroualle
Learn how the screen printing
process can transform your drawings and
photographs into unique works of art. In this
exciting workshop, designed specifically for
teens, students design and print their own tee
shirts, posters and original works on paper. This
workshop covers a variety of screen printing
techniques, such as multiple-color registration
and halftone printing. Become a young screen
printing expert and build a growing portfolio.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES
Students use a
variety of drawing materials and digital halftones
to create graphic designs. Water-based inks are
used to print the designs onto paper, tee shirts
and various fabrics.
ACTIVITIES
Students make images and
print. Beginning with simple, single-color prints,
students learn new techniques, allowing them
to make more complex, multicolored images.
Group discussions, slide lectures and reviewing
examples from Anderson Ranch Editions give
an historical and holistic understanding of
screen printing in pop culture.
FACULTY
Paul Keefe is an artist working
primarily in painting and sculpture. He has
exhibited at the Rocky Mountain College of Art
and Design and Lane Meyer Projects in Denver,
CO. He received his MFA from the University
of Kansas and was an artist-in-residence at the
Atlantic Center for the Arts.
Discover endless possibilities in
clay as we create a wide range of pottery forms:
from bowls and plates to cups and teapots!
Students are introduced to a variety of hand
building and surface treatment techniques to
transforms their ideas into sculptural vessel
forms. The end of the class is a celebration tea
party utilizing all the pieces made in class!
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES Participants work
with earthenware, colored slips and majolica
glaze. The workshop also utilizes soft and hard
slabs and other hand building techniques.
ACTIVITIES There are demonstrations, group
and individual activities, followed by hands-on
ceramic instruction and in-studio work time.
FACULTY
Louise Deroualle is the Studio
Coordinator of Ceramics at Anderson Ranch
Arts Center. She received her MFA from the
University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She has been
a Roswell Artist-in-Residence and has exhibited
her work both in the United States and Brazil,
where she is originally from.

Lauren Peterson
CONCEPT
Hone your drawing skills and
add exciting work to your growing portfolio.
This teen-specific workshop is designed to
teach young artists not only how to draw
recognizable objects, but to develop new ways
of seeing the world. Students focus on basic
design elements including line, composition,
color, scale and perspective. Working from
a still life, self-portraiture and the landscape,
students learn a variety of methods to enhance
fundamental drawing skills. Working mostly
from observation, explore a wide range of
media and subject matter to improve technical
and creative abilities.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES Using traditional
drawing materials including graphite, charcoal
and ink, students work with elements of
line, value and mark-making in a variety of
experiments and exercises to develop works
on paper. Students also explore alternative
drawing materials and methods.
ACTIVITIES
There are demonstrations,
followed by hands-on experimentation. Group
discussions, drawing, exercises, one-on-one
help, and plenty of time to draw in the studio
are provided.
FACULTY Lauren Peterson received her MFA
from Georgia State University. Her work has
been exhibited nationally and internationally
and is part of the permanent collection of the
High Museum of Art, Goya Contemporary, and
the International Printing Museum. Lauren is
the Studio Coordinator of Painting, Drawing &
Printmaking at Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
