Light up your artistic
world in this experimental and
inventive workshop! We make use
of creative hardware, including
Arduinos, motors, sensors, LEDs,
jumper cables and more to
make interactive artworks. We
incorporate the basics of electricity,
animation and programming to
build interactive systems that can
respond to the analog world. Students create
artful robots that draw, a Rube Goldberg
machine, light-up postcards and more!
Combine technology and traditional artistic
processes to create art of the future. Come experience
the Anderson Ranch woodshop in
this immersive week learning the
fundamentals of woodworking!
Students begin the week by
sketching and drawing preliminary designs
and then dive into basic woodshop practices to
create wooden pieces for the kitchen. Students
learn how to safely use woodshop machinery
and tools such as rasps, files, carving gouges,
bandsaws, drill presses, orbital sanders and
more! We create wooden spoons of our own
design, along with unique cutting boards of all
shapes and sizes. Join the fun and explore what
it takes to be a woodworker!

CONCEPT One of the oldest and
most common beading techniques
found in many cultures around the
world is known as “netting”. In this
unique workshop, students create
stunning beaded jewelry using three different
Ukrainian netting techniques. Students choose
from a variety of vibrant colored glass seed
beads and bugle beads to create stunning
necklaces or bracelets to take home. Using
needle and thread and following set patterns,
students learn how to craft intricate pieces and
study historical beading techniques.
