July 8 — 12 9AM — 3PM July 29 — August 2 1PM — 4PM July 29 — August 2 9AM — 3PM Full STEAM Ahead! Culinary Clay Wearable FABulous Hilary Forsyth Kristin Stransky CONCEPT Up-and-coming foodies need look no further than this enticing, dynamic workshop that explores the intersection of cuisine, creativity, culture and ceramics. Students dream up their ideal menu as we create food out of clay. Menu items may include tacos, popsicles, grilled cheese or a slice of cherry pie. We also create our very own personalized food truck out of clay! While the clay pieces are in the kiln, students design their own food truck logos, hand-printed aprons and masterful menus. Let’s create some culinary art! Create a FABulous work of art to wear with digital fabrication. We will explore three- dimensionality through physical and digital tools including 3-D modeling and design software, 3-D printing and laser cutting! With clay, plastic and fabric, watch your creations take shape into objects that you can wear to show your technical prowess and newly-mastered digital sculpting skills. With basic circuitry, add LEDs (lights) to add some eye-catching bling to your new piece. Keep designing and creating in the modeling software, even after the workshop. Caroline Hanson & Peter Hanson CONCEPT Join us in this interdisciplinary workshop that 9 — 12 combines science, technology, engineering, art and design. Using new coding languages and creative hardware components, students bring art designs to life in this immersive maker workshop. Students craft paper robots complete with blinking LED lights, expressive robot sculptures that move, animated pop-up cards, interactive artistic dioramas, and lastly, students design their own computer games with artsy flair. We explore Lego WeDo, Microbits and the MIT software Scratch(™). Let’s discover the art of technology!
