world! Students look at all of the wondrous life that makes up
our vast oceans. From giant barracudas to delicate seahorses,
discover sea creatures big and small! Getting hands messy,
students create ceramic whales, jellyfish costumes, mermaid
and shark self portraits, paper-stuffed lobsters, sand-castle candles
and fish-printed beach bags. The workshop also presents a variety of
artistic mediums such as clay, oil pastels, paint, watercolors, glitter, glue,
tissue paper and more to make underwater masterpieces. Each day the
workshop reads stories together that bring students on educational and
fun underwater adventures. Tickly, prickly, creepy, crawly bugs come in all
shapes and sizes! This exploratory workshop studies lightning
bugs, butterflies, spiders and other magnificent insects. How
many different kinds of ladybugs can we discover? Why do
fireflies glow? Do monarch butterflies really travel 2,000
miles south in the fall? Together we explore these questions, as we craft
whimsical artworks inspired by insects big and small. We create sculptural
bumblebees from recycled materials, beautiful watercolor butterflies,
shiny clay beetles, wearable antenna and giant dragonflies! We use all
kinds of art supplies such as pastels, watercolors, paint, glue, clay and
papier-mâché! Let’s get buzzzzzzzing!
