We provide an inspiring environment where students can explore and expand their practice in the bright, beautiful natural light of the lofty Wyly Painting & Drawing Building. Anderson Ranch fosters an extraordinary collective of painters, evoking new perspectives, new skills, and a new community of friends and fellow artists. The Painting and Drawing team offers exceptional 2019 summer workshops, blending fresh content, innovative concepts, and critical engagement for artists of all levels. Painting and drawing guest faculty are phenomenal artists and educators who aim to build upon your technical knowledge and provide inspiration for developing a studio practice. skill Painting & Drawing Our facilities are open with round-the-clock studio access. Essential support materials are available, including large individual worktables, wall space, easels, rolling palettes, odorless solvents, a wide range of hand and power tools, computer access with Adobe software, wi-fi, printing, scanning and projection capabilities. Spend a week here—or several—and engage in workshops that blend focused, hands-on art making with critical feedback that will fuel your inspiration and practice throughout the year. O OPEN TO ALL Students of any skill and knowledge level. LEVEL I Students have very limited experience or none at all. Classes usually start with a full day of basic instruction. I LEVEL II Students have basic knowledge of 2-D art making including form, negative space, value and line. II LEVEL III Students have formal training in critical issues of two-dimensional art making, experience with public critiques and a solid portfolio of their artwork. III LEVEL IV Students have advanced skill and knowledge of painting and drawing. Students are highly motivated and self-directed, have a minimum of five years’ experience in their field and have produced multiple bodies of artwork.
