Visitors Center CHAMBER COMMERCE OF Background image: Original DNR Ranger Station 1930s Mid-2017 the Tomah Chamber & Visitors Center found a new home in a recently renovated 1930s DNR Ranger Station located at 310 N. Superior Ave. The location of the Tomah Chamber & Visitors Center had been semi- permanent since 2007. In 2012, the City Council voted to collect a 2% hotel room tax that would go towards building a new facility for the Chamber & Visitors Center. There were limited areas to build, so the search began for existing buildings. In the midst of the search, the DNR announced to the City of Tomah that they would be vacating the Ranger Station. It was recognized that there would be some significant challenges; however, the location was ideal for the needs of the Tomah Chamber & Visitors Center and the historical nature of the building provided significant value to our purpose. The building needed to tell people that this is a Chamber of Commerce: serving, supporting, and advocating for the business community; as well as a Convention & Visitors Bureau: working to increase tourism and promote Tomah as a destination. The building was also designed to highlight Tomah’s history and the original intention of the building, a DNR Ranger Station. Hopefully during your time in Tomah you have a chance to explore the building and all of the history and information that it holds. It is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. - 4 -
