July Farmyard Friends Nature Buds: 4-5 years old Wild Sprouts: 6-7 years old Trail Blazers: 8-9 years old Outdoor Explorers: 10-12 years old Specialty Camp Cost (see page 1 for rates)  Serious animal lovers and farm fans come together to care for the resident Blandford Farm animals! We’ll spend time with the livestock in barns and pastures and pitch in to feed, exercise, and entertain the goats, sheep, and chickens. Hooray for Herptiles Campers will discover the slimy and scaly world of toads, turtles, salamanders, and snakes! Together we will explore Blandford’s own froggy ponds, muddy marshes, flourishing forests, and curvy creek to learn about the wild and resident reptiles and amphibians that call Blandford home. Together we will come up with ways to improve the habitats of these amazing animals! Eco Engineers Even though wild plants and animals do an incredible job of surviving on their own, sometimes they can use a little help from hard-working and creative-thinking humans. We will work with the Land Stewardship Team to identify, plan, and execute a project to help the native plants and animals living at Blandford. Wildlife Helpers Michigan is home to a wondrous variety of wildlife that needs your help! Campers will create special items to help the wildlife in their backyard, work on projects to protect habitat diversity, and go behind the scenes in our wildlife care center to prepare food and enrichment items for Blandford’s permanent residents. Nature Photography Do you have an eye for the unique beauty that abounds in nature? Do you want to try your hand at special techniques and tools to help you get a different perspective? From close-ups of the forest microcosm to framing a landscape shot, we’ll practice capturing the essence of the world around us through the camera’s lens. We will even try making our own cameras this week! Campers will need to bring a basic digital camera labeled and in a protective case. July 22-26 Nature Art There are more colors in the meadow than in a box of crayons! Blandford's youngest artists will build sculptures, paint with plants, and search for new ways to make art outside. At the end of the week, we'll show off our creations in a gallery exhibition for friends and family. Let's get creative! Fort Building A camp favorite: grab some sticks and your imagination, it's time to build a fort! Explore the woods and fields of Blandford to gather the perfect materials to make your fort a fortress. Campers will learn how to safely build human- sized habitats with nature's materials. Circle of Life Harness the energy of the sun, discover the importance of plants, experience what it’s like to be a predator or prey, and dig in the mud while looking for decomposers! Campers will experience all of this as they spend the week learning about how different Michigan organisms fit into the food web. Forest Forensics Investigation is our middle name and detection is how we play this game! The week will be full of Blandford mysteries and cases for our campers to crack. By the end of the week we will have earned our badge in forest forensics, discovered a new mysterious species, and solved a few of the great mysteries of the Blandford woods.
