The Park District of Highland Park is home to beautiful natural areas, historic parks, and award winning beaches that physically define much of Highland Park’s physical character. Together, these areas provide a unique mix of ecological, recreational, aesthetic and educational value that is an integral part of the historical, cultural and natural resources of the community. It's time for fun in the sun--the possibilities are endless! WHAT THE PARKS FOUNDATION DOES: Meeting the growing and changing needs of the community and keeping taxes and program fees in check the gap between public resources and the need to maintain a vibrant park system by: DID YOU KNOW? • Property taxes support only 50% of the Park District operating costs. • nine facilities, and 3,000 programs. • Providing scholarship funds for participants the SMILE Grant-in-Aid and Foundation Youth Initiative programs • Raising funds to enhance the Park District’s quality recreation programs, services and facilities • Encouraging advocates and supporters to give time, money and talents MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
