Your instructor Turiya (Ter-ee-ah) will introduce students to contemporary and historical artworks produced on the potter’s wheel to show what is possible in the wonderful world of clay. This class is open to all levels with specific demos on handles, lids, finials, and trimming. For the more advanced students, individualized demos will be offered. Weave a Twined Basket You’ve always wanted to and now you have the chance. Come make a container with rush warps and tule wefts, using California Indian techniques. You will practice various twining stitches to make a patterned exterior, finish with a decorative rim, and perhaps a cordage handle. Tule baskets were very commonly made in many parts of California, Oregon and Nevada, with varying “starts”, weaves and rim finishes.
