Learning To Swim Is A Life-Long Lesson! Napa Parks and Recreation values your time! We structure our swim lessons to allow you to register all your children for the same swim lesson time, regardless of their skill level. We will be teaching all levels of instruction at Napa High pool, and up to level 4 at Redwood Middle School (due to depth/size of the pool). We are sure to have a swim lesson option that fits your family’s busy schedule. Swim Level Descriptions TADPOLE (3 – 5 years) Small classes for the beginning swimmers. Designed to teach water orientation, breath holding, rhythmic bobbing, and assisted front and back floats, as well as beginning arm circles and kicks. LEVEL 1 (Ages 5+) There are no refunds for missed lessons or early withdrawal from lessons. Please check your schedule carefully before registering. A class to help students feel comfortable in the water. Classes are designed to teach elementary skills, including breathing skills, arm circles, and kicks. Parent/Child Water Orientation Classes LEVEL 2 (Ages 6+) Offered at both Napa High and Redwood Middle School, this class is for children ages 6-36 months. This program allows a parent and child to play together in the water, learning some basic skills to be comfortable in the pool, and prepare for independent swim lessons after age 3. This class gives teaches students fundamental skills. Students learn to float (front & back) without support, propel themselves with a flutter kick, and practice rhythmic breathing. Group Lessons (Tadpole & Levels 1-4) Offered at all three pools, group lessons are for kids in levels 1 - 4. Small classes allow each student to advance in their swim skills and progress towards more efficient swimming and water safety. Private Lessons Offered at both Napa High and Redwood Middle School, private lessons are for all swim levels. Lessons for levels 5 and above are only available in private lessons. Swim Lessons LEVEL 3 (Ages 6+) Designed for the advanced beginner swimmer: Students will work on perfecting skills previously learned and be introduced to elementary backstroke and the fundamentals of treading water. LEVEL 4 (Ages 6+) This class builds on the skills learned in Level 3 by providing additional guided practice to improve aquatics skills. Breaststroke and sidestroke are introduced while endurance is being developed. * LEVEL 5 - Private lessons These lessons develop confidence and endurance in the strokes already learned while improving other aquatic skills.
