VC_App is accessible to all students registered with The IIE’s Varsity College. It is software which
can be used on multiple devices including smart phones and tablets. This app is a quick and
efficient tool which campuses use to extend the reach of important and interesting communication
to the wider student body. Please use the VC_App and stay informed and up to date with the latest
communication, important calendar and campus events, sports updates, news feeds and photos.
The VC_App can also be used to access some of our other important communication platforms
such as VCPortal, VClearn, VCConnect and the Student Hub.

2. VCPORTAL
VCPortal is a website portal for all student registration information and details. You will receive login
details for the portal once you have registered. Academic Operations Coordinators (AOC) will give you
the details during your first week of lectures. On VCPortal you will be able to view each module you
have registered for, your module manuals (where applicable), your assignments and any other relevant
material. All your academic results will be published on the portal. Please view these via the portal,
as your results may not be released over the telephone and will also not be displayed on campus. The
VCPortal can be accessed via MyVC and the VC_App.
Access VCLearn via: https://myvc.iielearn.ac.za
MyVC is a part of The IIE’s Varsity College website where you, as a student, can access the information
and services to help you manage your academic and student life at The IIE’s Varsity College. You will
be able to use MyVC as an ‘online profile’ to order academic material, to access library services, for
administration, for career centre information and much more.
VCLearn is a “Learning Management System” which provides you with an online learning
environment following an activity-based approach to learning. VCLearn offers you greater
accessibility and flexibility; encouraging you to engage and collaborate beyond the classroom.
VCLearn is accessible via VC_App and MyVC and can be logged into with the same details as your
VCConnect and VCPortal.
6. SAFEASSIGN AND TURNITIN
SafeAssign is a plagiarism-prevention software application and can be accessed via VCLearn.
TurnItin (TII) is a third party licensed plagiarism software application tool. If the assignment is for
a VCLearn module, you will need to use SafeAssign. If it is a non VCLearn module, you will need to
use TurnItin.
Any student paper submitted via SafeAssign or TurnItin is checked against a variety of source
bases; for e.g.: Internet websites, library online databases, eBooks, newspapers, magazines, online
journals, online reference sites and past student papers that are held in the institutional databases.
Overall, the two platforms offer a similar product: originality reports showing you and lecturers
any similarities within a student submission that the assignment may have to any text that exists
online or offline. This will allow you to address potential plagiarism prior to the due date, and for
the lecturer to see any potential plagiarism offenses after to the due date.
