The last chart here on the employment market is a look at one sector – Retail Trade. Before looking, would you
guess that employment in retail establishments is up or down since the boom year of 2007?
Fascinatingly, it’s up, but not by much. Retail establishments have only expanded employment by 2% over 12
years. Not pretty, not pretty at all. Perhaps even more telling is the flattening of the growth over the past 30
months. The retail world is under pressure, and it shows in their employment decisions.
