INTENSIVE ENGLISH (TSIE)

The TSIE Program offers non-credit, academic-based,
intensive English classes to international students, faculty
and staff. The program focuses on reading, listening,
speaking, writing, grammar, American culture and test
preparation. Classes are offered four days per week
each semester (fall, spring and summer) for 15 weeks in
the fall and spring or 10 weeks in the summer. All TSIE
classes take place on campus and are conducted by
professionally trained instructors with advanced degrees
in foreign language education, TESOL and/or English.
Through TSIE, students will take part in activities and
assignments to improve academic English proficiency
and obtain the tools necessary to succeed in university-
level classes. Students will be evaluated before, during
and after their participation in TSIE to ensure proficiency
goals are met. TSIE helps students have a smooth and
successful transition from English-language training
to participation in credit-bearing degree programs.
