By its very nature, this course is ‘hands
on’ in its approach and will provide you
with a solid understanding in theory,
before training you in the practical
elements of working in the industry.
If you love watching, playing and reading
about sport, then this course will boost
your confidence and help you develop
your practical skills, as well as your
theory and knowledge of the subject.

You will also study Sports Massage,
which, together with the Sports Injuries
unit, is fantastic for progression into
careers such as Sports Therapy
or rehab.
You can’t beat real-world experience to
develop your skills, so if you choose the
Diploma or Extended Diploma, you’ll
also complete work experience in a
sport-related occupation.

SUBJECTS: BTEC Diploma in Sport and A Level Geography
This course has been designed to
prepare you for the workforce and is
complimented by a range of practical/
vocationally oriented sessions. There
are three course options available for
Sport: Extended Certificate, Diploma and
Extended Diploma. Your assessments
will vary from unit to unit, but they are
all internally assessed via coursework.
You will gain an in-depth theoretical
understanding of Anatomy & Physiology
and study more practical units such as
Sports Coaching and Leadership which
are assessed through your ability to plan
and lead coaching sessions.
Students who have completed the
BTEC Sport course have gone to
university to study degrees in
Teaching, Sports Science, Coaching,
Physiotherapy and Leisure Management,
to name just a few.
If you decide not to go to university,
the BTEC course provides employment
routes into a number of areas such as
the Armed Forces, Police, Sport and
Leisure Industry and other health fields.
