WHAT IS TRAVEL AND TOURISM? WHAT WILL YOU STUDY?
BTEC Travel and Tourism is a
qualification that is highly valued by the
travel industry because of the knowledge
and skills gained during the two-year
course. It tells potential employers that
you have well-developed research
skills, excellent time management skills,
that you are able to work in a team to
achieve set goals, meet deadlines and
that you have the necessary ‘people’
skills to manage others effectively. You will begin by learning about the
world of Travel and Tourism and
the breadth of opportunity within the
industry. You will then complete a range
of diverse units that include investigating
destinations both at home and abroad,
types of tourism such as cruising or other
forms of specialist tourism, customer
service skills and understanding the
requirements for employment in many
different aspects of the industry.
You will be encouraged to develop a
range of skills required for a managerial
career in the future through a range of
varied and interesting projects, tailored
to match your interests and ambitions.
You will also have the opportunity to
complete a relevant work experience
placement, to help you plan your career
path and use your newly acquired skills
in an industry setting. A variety of trips
will also be organised for you to see the
industry in action.

great variety of courses on offer to choose
from which really appealed to me. I have
thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people
and learning new topics. The college is very
welcoming and has a great atmosphere.”
