Communication and Preparation
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Do we have student leaders? What is the purpose of Prize Giving?
Assemblies A range of leadership positions are offered in the Preparatory
School. These leadership positions are for students in their final
year in the school. The aim of the Leadership Program is to
encourage and develop personal responsibility and organisational
skills. School leaders are expected to act as role models for the
younger students and to assist in the smooth running of the
Preparatory School. Elections for leadership positions are held
early in Term 1. Qualities of leadership are encouraged and
enacted in all year levels. The annual Prize Giving evening is a compulsory event for
students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Prize Giving is an
opportunity to recognise the achievements of our students. This
event is the last formal opportunity for the School to gather
as a community and is a fitting celebration for the end of the
academic year.
Leadership opportunities exist for: At Guildford Grammar Preparatory School, we enjoy celebrating
birthdays and special occasions with your child.
Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in assemblies
at 8.25am on Friday mornings in Priestley Hall throughout
each term.
Assemblies provide the opportunity to celebrate special
achievements, showcase talented musicians, see performances by
students and hear guest speakers. Commendation certificates are
presented at Assembly. Parents are always welcome to attend.
How are students’ achievements recognised?
We believe in positive reinforcement by encouraging students
to do their best through setting goals and striving to achieve
those goals. In the classroom, teachers award academic points,
reward with stickers, stamps, written comments or simply an
encouraging word. Commendation Awards are presented at
the weekly assembly. These awards recognise individual student
achievement and are highly sought after by the students. At the
final assembly each term, Head of the Preparatory School Awards
are presented to those students who have excelled or worked
consistently well throughout the term.
