Communication and Preparation Wearing the Uniform Clothing Shop Formal Uniform At Guildford Grammar School, we encourage our students to wear their uniform with pride. The Guildford Grammar School Clothing Shop is located at the rear of the Bursar’s Office at 11 Terrace Road, Guildford. The Clothing Shop stocks the complete range of Guildford Grammar School uniform requirements (except shoes), both new and a good range of second hand clothing are available. Please visit the website for details of our formal uniform requirements • All new students and families to Guildford Grammar School are invited to make an initial appointment to be fitted with their uniform requirements. New families will receive a letter inviting them to schedule an appointment. Please follow the steps outlined in the letter to make your booking. 2019 is a transition year for the introduction of the new Kindergarten – Year 2 uniform. For this year only (2019), Year 2 students will continue to wear the formal uniform (as per below), but still change for sport activities. • The School uniform is an outward sign that a student attends Guildford Grammar School. • Students must always wear the correct uniform to and from school and whilst attending formal school functions. • The exception being Years K -2 when children are wearing their ‘Outdoor Adventuring Clothes’ for an Inquiry activity. i.e. gardening, walking and investigating by the river. • All students are expected to have neat, tidy and clean hair. Boys may not have hair over their eyes, ears or collar. Extremes of hair styles and hair colour are not accepted. Where hair is long enough, girls are expected to tie it back. Hair ties or clips for girls are either neutral or navy. Colourful clips are not to be worn, but navy and/or white ribbons can be worn. • Except for wrist watches, medical alerts bracelets or culturally approved items no other jewellery is to be worn to school. However, girls may wear small, discreet studs or sleepers. Woven tapes, recommended for marking your child’s name on all articles of clothing, are also available at the Clothing Shop. Kindergarten – Year 2 Uniforms Years 3-6 and Further Uniform Information: • The summer uniform is compulsory for Terms 1 and 4 for Years 3 - 6. • We do not stock school or sports shoes. • The winter uniform is compulsory for Terms 2 and 3 in Years 3 - 6. General Opening Hours during Term 2019 • Students in Years 4 - 6 are required to have a school blazer from Term 1 as they are to wear their blazer with the summer uniform to Assembly each Friday and on Lady Day. Appointments for new students can be made by contacting [email protected] or (+61 8) 9377 9209. 21 • It is compulsory for students in Years 4 to 6 to be attired in the correct Formal School uniform for the Lady Day celebration. • Only approved school backpacks and sports bags are to be used by the students. • The school tracksuit is compulsory for all students Years 3 - 6 when travelling to and from sporting fixtures during the winter terms.
