College of the Mainland is a comprehensive community
college providing associate degrees and many types of
professional certification programs. COM educates more than
3,900 credit and 1,050 continuing education students each
year, with the North County Learning Center bringing quality
higher education services to the League City area.
The Learning Center-North County offers a number of
continuing education workforce programs, as well as dual-
credit classes for high school students in the area and allied
health classes. The community college’s associate degree and
certificate programs provide a pathway directly to high-skill,
high-demand jobs in fields such as health care, public safety,
business and the petrochemical industry.
Another part of the college’s mission is to provide quick-
response training needed by businesses and industry in the
region in order to help provide a strong, vibrant community.

Since opening its doors in 1974, the University of Houston-
Clear Lake has forged a reputation as a dynamic force in
modern education. The campus offers undergraduate,
graduate and doctoral students a close-knit, academic
community enhanced by a global perspective.
Originally known for its upper-level and graduate education,
the university began welcoming freshmen and sophomore
students in fall 2014. Since then, enrollment has grown to more
than 9,000 students.
The university has flourished in the midst of the upper Gulf
Coast’s international petrochemical industry, Texas Medical
Center and NASA Johnson Space Center. The university has
built relationships with area businesses, schools, institutions
and organizations to the benefit of both its students and the
community as a whole.
More than 68,000 alumni have developed distinguished
