Roll Bar Padding
Roll Bar Padding - SFI
Our Urethane Science padding is available in a variety of sizes and colours and is endorsed by
ANDRA and CAMS vehicles running in National events. One advantage of USI SFI padding is
that it is not hard like a rock, but it is fi rm with a cushion feel! This also makes it fl exible and
easier to install than other brands. The padding is available in a variety of sizes and colours.
Also available is the SFI 45.2 Side impact / Helmet Padding this is available in Flat Sheets.
Our testing has provided proof that the padding can be soft and absorb high "G" forces,
accomplished only with our formulated Urethane compounds.

11. PROTECTIVE PADDING
11.1 Helmet and Head Protection:
(a) For vehicles subject of a safety cage structure as per Article
3: Application: where the helmet of an occupant could come into
contact with the safety cage structure, protective padding shall be
fi tted to that area, which complies with:
(i) International Competition and below, FIA standard 8857-
2001, type A (see FIA Technical List No 23 “Roll Cage Padding
Homologated by the FIA”); or
(ii) For National Competitions and lower, SFI specifi cation 45.1.
For each 1st Category vehicle, the use of SFI specifi cation 45.2 for
the head rest is permitted. Where it could be demonstrated that
the fi tment of protective padding unduly hampers the occupants’
ability to operate the vehicle in a safe manner, the requirement for
padding will be negated in the immediate area of concern at the
discretion of the Chief Scrutineer.
11.2 Body Protection:
Where the body of an occupant could come into contact with the
safety cage, it is recommended that fl ame retardant padding be
fi tted. FIA standard 8857-2001 or SFI specifi cation 45.1 padding.

Extract from ANDRA Rulebook:
4.10.7.1 Head Protector
Where the driver’s helmet can make contact with roll bars or
cages, padding meeting SFI 45.1 or FIA 8857-2001 must be
fi tted. All areas where the helmet may contact roll bars must be
protected with padding and suitably fastened to the tubing to
prevent it from slipping or detaching. If cable ties are used they
must be regularly checked to ensure they have not deteriorated
and remain fi t for purpose.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Heating the padding above 80°C in hot water will allow the
padding to be bent at sharper or odd angles reducing the
risk of breaking the USI roll bar padding!
