Al’s Italian Beef

For over 80 years, Al’s Italian Beef has been serving food as real as its story and is made the
same at 3420 N. Clark Street as it was back in 1938. Al’s Beef is dry roasted in-house daily,
simmering for over 4 hours in a secret recipe blend of 19 different, 100% pure spices, then

When the Swedish owners of a local restaurant on Belmont decided to retire after
60 years, a woman named Ann Sather decided to quit her job and open her own
diner – now known as Ann Sather Restaurant. Her devotion to wholesome, made-
from-scratch food, low prices and hard work became legendary in Lakeview. In
1981, after searching for a successor, Ann finally sold the restaurant to Tom Tunney,
who is currently the Alderman of the 44th Ward in Chicago. Make sure to try one of
Ann Sather’s famous cinnamon rolls!
