Michael Murphy affectionately known as “Mike” is a native of Queens County, New York. His mother was a hard working individual, who raised Mike and his siblings in a nurturing and compassionate environment. Mike’s work ethic and optimism, combined with his wife Gladys’ vision, partnership and unwavering support resulted in the Murphys starting several businesses that included 2 food businesses, a Christian Bookstore / Café and a Home School Chapter in his community.

With a servant’s heart for improving the plight of people in need, Mike participated in building and rehabilitating homes for qualifying low income candidates through Habitat for the Humanity. For he and his wife’s faithfulness, God rewarded them an opportunity to acquire affordable housing. Mike currently sits on Habitat’s Family Partner Advisory Board where he uses every opportunity to advocate for, empower and educate low income candidates by raising awareness of housing ownership opportunities. A friend to all, Mike assists the elderly in his community with handy work in light plumbing, carpentry, painting, automotive problems, yard work, etc.

As a member of ICB, Mike’s serves in facilitating ICB subgroups with Christian Cultural Center’s members, as well as, the development of men’s groups in other churches, visiting the sick & shut-in and assisting the Ministry with various spiritual, administrative functions, as well as participating in conflict resolution. His greatest joy is RECRUITING MEN FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Mike’s acts of compassion and concern are far reaching and indiscriminate. There is “NO ONE”, at “NO TIME” that he is unwilling to help. Mike considers his service to ICB an opportunity to serve the church and community he loves with commitment & purpose.

Mike, a spry 57 year old, is a husband, father, son, brother, citizen and employee. He proudly shares his 22 plus year relationship with Jesus Christ. Mike has been married to Gladys for 22 years. They have 3 lovely daughters Mikayla, Kristina and Analiese, each of whom they have homeschooled.
