FLAGLER SCHOOLS
T
he Flagler School District is ready to
embark on a second century of educating
students. The Flagler County School
District is committed to providing a well-
rounded education that empowers students
to reach their full potential as responsible,
ethical and productive citizens in a diverse
and changing world. This commitment begins
in pre-Kindergarten where students have the
opportunity to begin their education with
Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten provided at all
elementary schools.
While in primary and secondary schools,
students continue their educational journey
with a strong foundation in a core curriculum
that prepares them for academic success. In
addition to the core curriculum, Flagler County
Schools offer classes in music, art and physical
education, since a strong exposure to the arts
and adopting a healthy lifestyle at an early age
contributes to the development of the whole child.
Core curriculum is enhanced with opportunities
to participate in service learning projects, future
and community problem solving and STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)
based activities. This provides students with the
ability to engage in real-world activities that
promote civic engagement. Flagler County
students can also participate in extracurricular
sports, clubs and activities that promote
self-esteem, teambuilding and collaboration
skills while also preparing them for post-
secondary education, entrepreneurship, the
military and the workforce. Over 20 Flagship

programs, aligned with career pathways and
targeted industries for our community, exist
from elementary to secondary schools.
Students and families have many personalized
learning choices as they journey through their
educational experience with Flagler Schools.
Additional components that make Flagler
County Schools special are technology-infused
classrooms with a 1:1 computer-to-student
ratio, state-of-the-art media centers and
commitment to developing a real world
modernized learning environment. Student
safety and wellness is a top priority in Flagler
County Public Schools. In each school, you will
see School Psychologists, Guidance
Counselors, School Nurses, and School
Resource Deputies working with students to
support and promote citizenship, positive
choices and healthy relationships. Teachers and
staff are highly qualified and trained in their
area of expertise. From bus drivers to the
teachers in the classroom, all staff is dedicated
to raising student achievement by participating
in opportunities for professional growth that will
positively impact students.
What we’re doing is being noticed across our
state and the nation. Both Matanzas High
School and Flagler Palm Coast High School
have received recognition from U.S. News &
World Reports as silver and bronze medal
schools for multiple years. Indian Trails Middle
School has been recognized by the state of
Florida as a School of Excellence for the past
two years.
