WHO WE ARE
The Flagler County Department of Opportunity (FCDEO)
provides the leadership to strengthen the local economy.
Its charge is to facilitate the expansion and diversification of
the County’s economic base with targeted industries. Through
the recruitment, retention and expansion of these industries,
the FCDEO facilitates the creation of quality jobs, infusion of
capital investment and ensures a higher standard of living.
Executive Director Helga Van Eckert champions the economic
development efforts. She and her staff work closely with a
nine-person volunteer board of residents with diverse industry
backgrounds that make up the County’s Economic Opportunity
Advisory Council (EOAC).
Through the assistance of the FCDEO, companies wishing to
relocate to the area will find opportunities to control costs,
reduce their tax burden and plan growth in a stable
environment. The County’s low cost of operation, skilled
workforce and high quality of life provide the perfect balance
for businesses and employees.
