birding
PARKS & NATURE
M
any birding enthusiasts start by putting up
a few bird feeders at home and watching
the dozen or so (or, in rural areas, many more)
species that come to visit. Most birders learn a great
deal more when they go out “birding” with others.
The Flagler Audubon Society (www.
FlaglerAudubonsociety.org) offers organized group
trips, bird walks and local field trips that can
accelerate the learning process. Take advantage by
exploring the area’s five designated Great Florida
Birding and Wildlife Trails and more than 45 parks
and preserves where you can spot more than 200
species.
