In Light on the Path, Georgette McLeod creates a powerful story about a girl who is threatened by violence in her family, and is saved by love.Lulu Keating Underdog Vivian Belik, Naomi Mark, 2017, Yukon, Documentary, 9m In the wake of her mother’s death, dog sledder Yuka Honda prepares to compete in the 1,000 mile Yukon Quest Chosen by Marina Osmend Lost on the River of Riches Gerard Parsons/Bob Nixon, Yukon, 2008, Documentary, 12m Two travelers search for fortunes along a dangerous Yukon river. Another cautionary tale against idiocy. Despite their lack of expertise in the wilderness, these two make do with what is around them and find humour in their lack of know-how. Karen MacKay Remembering Claire Evelyn Pollock, Yukon, 2015, Experimental, 3m A man fights to hold onto his identity as his mind is ravaged by disease. From the tumble of recalled images forming his reality, a love story emerges. I found Evelyn’s film so moving and the editing brilliant: her creative use of old film footage brought this complex portrait to life in a frank and loving way. Cynthia Hunt 34
