On Quebec’s frozen Saint Lawrence River a few brave souls
take part in their favourite winter activity: smelt fishing.
Through this frozen ritual, this film seeks to elucidate the
interactions between humans and their natural environment.
High Altitude
Victoria N. Inglis, Reindeer Lake, Experimental, 4m
High Altitude explores what it means the be an Indigenous
artist in the modern world. Being a youth in a fast paced
digital arts scene, Inglis poetically explores the ideas of
decolonization, racism, creativity, and life on lands of broken
agreements. Through poetry they explore ways to go back
to the land and heal.
GREY MOUNTAIN
Naomi Mark & Marty O’Brien, Yukon, Narrative, 16m
Grey Mountain follows the story of Beau, a 14-year old girl
living in an isolated Yukon community and dealing with
the recent loss of her mother. A shocking discovery at the
cemetery throws Beau’s world into chaos and sets her on
a journey to get to Pioneer Creek, a remote community
100km away.

In the face of physical and mental challenges, singer song
writer Nicole Edwards teams up with dancer Micha St-Pierre
and film maker Marten Berkman to create an invitation to
….mindfulness in the midst of our suffering. She asks us…
