HONOR ROWS HISPANIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS CITY YEAR
The Honor Rows program, one of the Foun-
dation’s longest standing programs, was
established with the idea that our youth
are our future and should be recognized for
their great efforts in the areas of academic
improvement, personal behavior, physical
fitness and community service. This national-
ly recognized program uses seats at Jaguars
home games as an incentive for youth to
reach their goals, giving students something
exciting to work towards! More than 100,000
students have earned a seat to a game since
the program began in 1995 - that’s nearly two
full NFL stadiums! Jacksonville has one of the fastest-growing
Hispanic populations in Florida. The Jaguars
embrace cultural diversity and believe in
creating opportunity for all citizens. In 2018,
the Jaguars partnered with the First Coast
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to award col-
lege scholarships to 10 local Hispanic youth
leaders. During Hispanic Heritage Month, the
NFL and its 32 teams amplify the rich history,
heritage and traditions of Latinos, and honor
the positive impact they have had on the
game and in our country. In partnership with City Year, the Jaguars
Foundation continues to encourage academic
excellence and support Duval County Public
Schools. The Jaguars have committed to
giving $100,000 annually to City Year which
helps thousands of middle and high school
students in Jacksonville excel in school, grad-
uate high school and enter career training or
college. This past school year, the Jaguars
partnered with City Year, Microsoft and Duval
County Public Schools to host Family FAFSA
Night, equipping students and parents with
essential financial aid information to best
prepare a college financial plan.
“Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow,” from the FDOT
has been a great partner in this initiative
alongside 40 Jacksonville-area nonprofits
that help provide over 8,000 children with an
unforgettable, and for many, their first NFL
game day experience each season! Other
partners include United Way of Northeast
Florida, Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Bubba Burger,
Propel and Culligan who help provide
volunteers, meals, shirts and hats.
SHAD KHAN AND HARRY FRISCH SCHOLARSHIP
AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Jaguars Owner Shad Khan and Harry Frisch,
Founder of Beaver Street Fisheries, have a
shared belief in the value of education and
high character which led them to form the
Shad Khan and Harry Frisch Scholarship
Program. The scholarship program supports
graduating high school seniors who have suc-
cessfully completed the Jacksonville Jaguars
Foundation’s Honor Rows Program and have
exhibited a growth mindset in their personal
and academic life. These scholarships help
to support emerging freshmen attending the
University of North Florida, Florida State
College at Jacksonville, or another accred-
ited college, university, or technical training
school that are recognized two-year or
four-year programs with awards starting
at $1,000.
JAGS TEEN TALK
“25 YEARS OF EDUCATION AND INSPIRING TEENS”
Beginning in 1995, in a unique collaborative
effort, every local television affiliate and
public television independent station, along
with other media, have partnered with the
Jaguars Foundation to produce a television
forum to encourage teens to make positive
choices in their lives and increase positive
communication between teens and parents.
The program has addressed many subjects
including goal-setting, utilizing positive
peer-support, preventing pregnancy, stopping
bullying, cyber-safety, and understanding
the development of the teenage brain. In
each show, Jaguars coaches, players and
members of THE ROAR have offered valuable
advice to viewers. As the team celebrates
its 25th season, “Teen Talk – Game Plan for
Success” will look back at highlights from
past shows and to the future in educating and
inspiring the next generation of teens through
this two-time Emmy Award-winning program.
