Health
Cynthia Farah is a five-year breast cancer survivor and has been volunteer-
ing with the American Cancer Society for 23 years. She assumed her invi-
tation to attend Jaguars practice on Dec. 21 was a chance to meet Bouye, a
member of the American Cancer Society’s Athlete Council. To her surprise,
Bouye presented Farah with two tickets to Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta courtesy
of the NFL. To sweeten the deal, Bouye himself offered to cover her travel
expenses. Bouye lost his mother to breast and brain cancer when he was
only 15 months old and often speaks of how difficult it was for his family
growing up without her. This is the second consecutive season Bouye has
worked with the American Cancer Society to present a family affected by
cancer with a Super Bowl experience.
BAPTIST MD ANDERSON ONE LOVE FOUNDATION
The Jaguars are proud to support Baptist MD
Anderson Cancer Center’s new downtown
facility. In 2016, owner Shad Khan made a
$1 million gift to the project, with matching
funds, it created a $2.25 million Jacksonville
Jaguars Endowment for Breast Cancer
research, prevention, treatment, and care for
the Baptist Health Foundation. In addition to the Foundation’s ongoing
support of local domestic violence shelters,
we also work with the One Love Founda-
tion which focuses on healthy relationships
among teens. The Foundation was created
to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, a
college senior who was beaten to death by
her ex-boyfriend just weeks before gradua-
tion. One Love Foundation’s mission is to end
relationship violence. With their Escalation
Workshops, they reach out to students and
faculty at high schools and colleges across
the country. Through a significant contri-
bution from the Jaguars Foundation, it has
become possible to offer these workshops to
all colleges, universities and high schools in
Jacksonville.
DONNA RUN
The Jaguars are proud supporters of the
DONNA Marathon Weekend to Finish Breast
Cancer. As the presenting sponsor of the 5K
and Family Fun Run, the Jaguars Foundation
donates thousands of dollars for the cause.
The race is the only national marathon that
raises funds for ground-breaking breast
cancer research and women living with
breast cancer.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
National statistics state that one in four wom-
en and one in seven men have been a victim
of physical violence by an intimate partner
in their lifetime. The Jaguars Foundation
supports local domestic violence shelters,
including the Hubbard House, Quigley House
and the Betty Griffin House to provide victims
and their families with safety, empowerment
and education. If you or a loved one are
experiencing violence within your own home,
please seek help by reaching the National
Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-7233.
JAGUARS COMMUNITY REPORT
RETHREADED
Rethreaded exists to renew hope, reignite
dreams and create jobs for survivors of
human trafficking through their business.
Founder Kristin Keen found that the greatest
need for victims was a safe, supportive work
environment where the women could earn
an income while learning a skill and experi-
encing continued healing through community.
The Jaguars Foundation is working closely
with Rethreaded to support their work to fight
human trafficking here in Jacksonville.
Florida ranks second in the U.S. for the
highest human trafficking cases.
