From May 5 to 11, 871 contributors sent 1,607 tweets about Awareness Day 2019. The conversations reached nearly 2.7 million people, resulting in 10.6 million potential impressions. The Awareness Day hashtag, #HeroesOfHope, was used in 1,059 tweets from 475 contributors, resulting in 8.9 million potential impressions. Local newspapers in cities from Indianapolis to Maui featured coverage of Awareness Day 2019 events and the suicide prevention theme. Many NBC affiliates across the country also mentioned SAMHSA’s Awareness Day event because of the NBC4 partnership, amplifying media coverage of the observance and the topic of suicide prevention in youth.
