In 1990, our growing space
was revolutionized when
the first Nexus poly house
was constructed. This new
greenhouse provided larger
floor growing space, heated
concrete floors, computerized
boom irrigation for easier
watering methods, and ECHO
basket systems. Easter bulbs
were added to our production
during this time.

On April 1st George and Louise
Lucas officially opened the doors
of Lucas Greenhouses with two
small IBG gutter-connected
greenhouses. At first, we offered
spring bedding, swedish ivy,
wandering jew, spider plants,
boston ferns and poinsettias.

Each of the next three builds
were identical – four IBG
gutter-connected plastic houses
with dirt floors and raised wire
benches. By 1985 there were
14 total houses of growing
space and a poly connector bay
which was constructed to join
all the houses together. Spring
flowering baskets were added to
our offerings.
