Rocky Mountain WILD
Sonya Taylor Moore 4-5YR / 9am - 12pm
CONCEPT : Tap into the stunning beauty of the Rocky Mountains as inspiration for your art making ! In this engaging workshop , we take a look at the breathtaking landscape that surrounds us along with the furry , slimy and long-legged creatures that call it home . Getting our hands dirty , we create majestic bald eagle sculptures , textured ceramic owls , glistening watercolor snakes , giant stuffed rainbow trout , and intricate black bear collages . We use a variety of artistic mediums such as oil pastels , paint , watercolors , glue , tissue paper and more , to make one-of-a-kind projects . We also read a story each day that highlights these magnificent animals and their natural surroundings .
FACULTY : Sonya Taylor Moore is the owner of the Yellow Canary Art Studio as well as the art instructor at Ross Montessori School in Carbondale , Colo . Prior to that , she was the Children ’ s Coordinator at Anderson Ranch Arts Center . This unique combination of working with children and creating art is Sonya ' s dream job — one she is thrilled to be able to share with the Roaring Fork Valley .

Artists through the Ages
Katherine Bell 4-5YR / 9am-12pm
CONCEPT : Step back in time , and take a lively journey through the world of art ! During this educational creative week , we are inspired by some of the great and influential artists of our time . Each day we focus on a different artist with a comprehensive look at his or her artistic style and then spend the day creating our own work using similar techniques . Together we craft ornate self portraits inspired by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo complete with tissue paper flowers , glitter , animal cut-outs and traditional Mexican tin work . We study Andy Warhol and the Pop Art Movement as we carve into styrofoam plates to print en masse with colorful inks . We also take an in-depth look at Claude Monet , Henri Matisse , and Jackson Pollock . We use all kinds of artistic materials including papier mache , clay , watercolors , pastels and more . Don ’ t miss out on this artistic adventure !
FACULTY : Katherine Bell is the Children ’ s Program and Outreach Manager at Anderson Ranch Arts Center . She is a native of Colorado with a background in art history and studio art . Katherine has worked with communities in the Bay Area , South America and Colorado , engaging children through art for the last ten years .
