Develop new dimensions and possibilities
in your woodturning craft under the guidance of a
woodworking master. This dynamic workshop introduces
you to David Ellsworth’s distinctive style in making open
bowls and hollow forms. By examining the full range of
his style, you produce open bowls and hollow forms while
simultaneously refining your existing techniques and
learning new ones. Students gain a wider understanding
of vessel design, learning about the ergonomics of body
movements for greater working efficiency. Challenge
your ideas and concepts in an effort to learn more about
the “self” in self-expression.
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: We primarily work with the
versatile Ellsworth Signature gouge and hollowing tools,
all of which are provided. You have your own high-quality
lathe. The workshop is fully equipped with all the tools
and accessories necessary for doing hand work off the
lathe.
ACTIVITIES: We begin with cut-rim and natural-edge
open bowls, and progress to hollow forms. Instructor
