Woodbury County Fair
Each exhibitor is responsible for the care of his or her calf and keeping the pen clean at the fair . Calves must be double tied while in the bucket calf barn . Calves will be released with all other general livestock on Sunday , August 5 , 2018 . Calves must be in good general health to be exhibited at the fair . No warts , ringworm or lice ( a pour-on should be applied ), and a vaccination program implemented ( 7-way Blackleg , Haemophlus , Pasturella , 4 Way shot ( IBR-BVD-Pi3- BRSV ) and any other product your vet recommends ), or they will be sent home . Health rules from the Woodbury County Fair Book will apply to this class . The fair veterinarian will have final say with regards to animal health and eligibility . New and inexperienced exhibitors are encouraged to attend the informational meeting where you will receive a free t-shirt that can be worn during the show . The meeting will be scheduled at a later date . New bucket calf t-shirts will be for sale ($ 7 per shirt ) during check in . These are not required for the show . Herdsmanship will be evaluated and displayed throughout the fair week according to the herdsmanship rules posted in the bucket calf barn . Rules This project is open to any youth who have completed TK – 3 rd grade . Classes will be divided as to the grades of the youth involved in the project . The lamb may be any breed or any sex that is bucket or bottle-fed . No nursing is permitted , and no bottle-feeding will be allowed at the fair . Record books must be turned in on entry day , Tuesday , July 31st . Exhibitor will not be allowed to show if their record books are not completed . Lambs will be entered from 4:00 – 8:00 p . m . Tuesday , July 31st . There will be NO early entries unless arrangements have been made with the superintendents . Space is limited . No tack or boxes brought into barn until an okay is given by superintendents . Additionally , superintendents reserve the right to ask exhibitors to move their fair boxes to the outside of the building to accommodate sufficient space for everyone . Lambs can be shown at halter . Lamb must be sheared at least once prior to fair , no clipping will be allowed at fair . Exhibitors will show by grade and will be judged on the cleanliness of the lamb , showing and general handling of the animal , and basic knowledge questions asked by the judge . Everyone will receive a ribbon and or prize money sponsored by the superintendents and area businesses . Exhibitors are encouraged to wear proper show attire . Boots or hard toed shoes are the suggested form of footwear . A white shirt and jeans are expected .
