projected. Jennifer Felix the Aquatics Operations Director has built a curriculum and a team of swim instructors that are keeping our classes full! 2018 looks to grow as well with the addition of Adaptive Semi- private group lessons to the already successful program! The J’s community partnerships continue to expand. We continued our collaboration for another free lecture series with Tucson Orthopedic Institute (TOI) that focused on a broad range of orthopedic conditions to help people return to their active lifestyles. This series was well attended and we are discussing another series for fall of 2018. In the fall of 2017 we had the return of our partnership with Jr. El Tour which brings a youth cycling program to The J for kids who are trying to lose weight, get active or overcome learning differences. This program trained the kids to ride the 43 mile El Tour event in November. More than 30 kids participated! We also partnered with Banner University Medical to bring free seminars on Fall Risk and “Stop the Bleed”-what to do as a by-stander in the time of trauma. We are working in 2018 to expand to more community partners with the wide variety of programs that we offer! The Group Fitness department continues community outreach with “A Taste of The J” at The Core at La Encantada and at the TMC Senior Center. These free classes are offered to the community one time per week at each location. Giving a variety of programming to the community and inviting them to come to The J for more! The Fitness Center continues to grow and classes fill with more than 115 free classes on our schedule weekly! The J was voted Best Gym 2016 AND 2017 in Tucson Weekly-part to having the most diverse and comprehensive schedule compared to most facilities in Tucson. The classes range from Qigong, Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, Cycling, Zumba, Pound, FIT, Body Pump, Body Combat, PACE, Silver Sneakers and many more. The TJCC Stingray team has undergone many transitions over the last year. The team has seen its ups and downs and looking ahead to 2018 we are excited to rebuild and strengthen our team! In December 2017 we completed two computer conversions: Personal Training came out of Mindbody and into Daxko, and the monthly Swim Team Billing from Team Unify into Daxko. We now have all our programming in one place, which is easier for our Membership Team as well as for the members to find all their activity in one stop! The conversions went smoothly and is working out great! The Wellness Department continues to research and offer competitive, yet engaging, Youth sports, new and innovative enrichment classes and cutting-edge adult programs. Be sure to check out the new J Wave aqua classes at the pool-NEW to 2018! Have you tried the new cardio equipment in the Fitness Center that was installed in November of 2017? The J made a promise to the members that every 3 years after the renovation of the Fitness Center in January of 2015, we will upgrade the cardio equipment. All the cardio equipment is new, offers high tech options and new and innovative pieces that are the first in Tucson!
