Amy Dowe
Director of Wellness
2017 was an exciting year
for the Health and Wellness
department! In June of 2017
the Wellness department
expanded over Sports and
Recreation, as well as Aquatics.
Amy Dowe became the
Director of Wellness and started working on building
a team of professionals on the east side of the building.
This change brought new and exciting ideas to the
Wellness department as well as allowing Amy to focus
her attention on programming that expands across the
entire department.
Many programs experienced revenue growth from
2016 to 2017. Some of the highlighted growth
areas in 2017 - Youth Sports Leagues saw a jump in
revenue which was a primary result of kicking off
the JFL Youth Flag Football program in the fall of
2017. This program in its first season hit our goals
and with all the fun that the kids and parents had out
there every week-they are already excited for fall of
2018! The JFL season ended with the “Rachmanus”
(meaning Sportsmanship) Championship Bowl. The
J’s Sparks Cheerleaders and U of A pomline were out
there performing and cheering on our teams! It was
a great end to the season! Our Tennis Program saw
a 16% increase primarily due to the stability in our
junior program with addition of Kisah Chin here year
round and the continuity of all youth programing at
the JCC going to Six week sessions in the spring and
fall. As well as the addition of Sasha Cook as Tennis
and Squash instructor. Personal Training continues
to grow year to year! With an increase in revenue
of more than 22% the expertise of our trainers is
evident! This team of 13 trainers work so well together
and continue to bring new and innovative ideas and
training to their clients!
The most notable increase from 2016 to 2017 was in
our Elder Rehab program-with the increasing need
for cognitive programming, the Elder Rehab program
grew 253%! We are working to make this a sustainable
program that we can share with other JCC’s around the
country.
The J Ray swim school had wonderful success in 2017
by more than doubling the revenue than was originally
