Ballet Level 3

Teacher recommendation is required for this advanced skill based class . In level III , the dancer commences the study of exercises on demi-pointe and ¾ pointe ( high tippy toes using the muscles of the calves , knees , and thighs to pull the whole of the leg upward into a completely straight / taut leg from the instep to the upper most top of the thigh , where the femur enters the pelvic girdle ). In this level the student begins the study of en tournant , turns ( pirouettes ,) sur le cou-de-pied , retire and the introduction of simple beats ( batterie ), to include some acceleration of tempo in comparison with the second year of study . Ballet Level 4

Level IV classes are preparation for entering into the advanced level of training . In the Royal Academy of Dance , and Russian Academies , the thought process is when one is entering into the intermediate level , it is the dancers final effort to gain the strength she or he is going to need to enter into the advanced studies of ballet . If there are weaknesses in the dancers training , such as a short Achilles tendon , tight hamstrings , lack of rotation in the legs , and especially if the lower back / spine are not properly developed ; it would be advantageous for the dancer to continue the level IV curriculum to correct the weaknesses . Ballet Level 5

Teacher recommendation is required for this advanced class . Dancers at this level have been dancing at least three times a week for three or more years and have proven themselves through hard work and a dedication to ballet . They will further increase the repertoire of steps , combinations , and turns . The stamina required for this level takes a true love of ballet . Classical and contemporary styles of ballet , with emphasis on Vaganova and Royal Ballet Academy schools of thought . Dancers at this level are taking technique class four times a week , including Floor Barre Technique and Pointe Technique Classes . The curriculum moves quickly and this class is meant for the focused and dedicated ballet dancers . Friday class 4:00 to 5:30pm , Sat class 1:30 to 3:00pm .

Pre-Professional Summer Intensive

Join us this Summer for two weeks of intensive ballet training conducted by Napa Valley Ballet ’ s Artistic Director , Richard Bowman . Students attending the program will learn from NVBA ’ s world-class Instructors . Your dancer will be immersed in a comprehensive dance experience which includes Dance History , Ballet , Pointe , Variations , Contemporary and Jazz . Includes weekend excursion . Napa Auditions : March 10 , 10:00am , Napa Valley Ballet Academy ( bring pointe shoes ) $ 25 audition fee . Space is extremely limited : first come , first serve . Adult / Teen Ballet

Introduces students to fundamental aspects of classical ballet technique ; no previous experience required . Basic principles of alignment , rotation , and movement quality are introduced as the building blocks for success in advanced material . Foundational movements and ballet vocabulary are learned and refined . Students work toward mastery of combinations and rhythmic patterns .
