Leader in Training
The City of Napa Parks & Recreation Services Department is pleased to announce the 2018 Summer Leader In Training Program (LIT).
We are seeking individuals 13-15 who are interested in developing leadership skills while learning what it takes to be a great leader and
camp counselor.
This Leader In Training (LIT) program was designed to help middle school and high school students develop valuable leadership skills
while assisting summer camp staff with the daily operations at camp.
This hands-on leadership training program is perfect for campers interested in learning more about working with youth, recreation, and
camp programs. Attendees will build self-esteem, independence, and leadership skills while they assist Summer Day Camp staff as they
provide recreation programs for younger campers (ages 5-12). During your summer as a LIT, you will learn how to lead activities, help
make campers feel welcome, and assist summer camp staff with special projects.
The program will begin Monday, June 25, 2018 and runs until Friday, August 10, 2018. Applications are currently available online at www.
cityofnapa.org/parksandrec, and at our main office 1850 Soscol Ave. Suite 201, Napa, CA 94559. Stop by anytime between 8 a.m. and 5
p.m. Monday through Friday to pick one up.
There will be a mandatory LIT orientation meeting on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at our main parks & recreation office. LIT’s will be
placed at either Camp Napa or Great Outdoors. Specific LIT schedules will be arranged with the recreation coordinator in advance of the
start of camp.

Leader In Training Requirements: Camp Napa LIT Sessions and Pricing
Applicants for the LIT program must be at least 13 or entering
the 7th grade by the start date of the session to which they apply.
The application must be submitted by May 11th! When we
have received your application, we will contact you to arrange
an interview. LIT interviews are held the week of May 14th
at the Napa Parks & Recreation Office. A two-week minimum
commitment is required. Must be available to attend a mandatory
orientation on Friday, June 1st from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. *$60.00 discount given for
participants who register for
the entire summer ($10.00
discount per week).

We ask that LIT’s commit to a minimum of two weeks. There is a required training prior to the start of camp, in addition to ongoing
weekly leadership trainings and check-ins with our Leadership Team.
