FORT FRANCES
Fort Frances is the major gateway into Sunset Country from
the US and it also happens to be situated on Rainy Lake, one of
the largest and highest quality multi-species lakes in Ontario.
There’s big bass in Rainy Lake and that fact is celebrated every
year at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship held
this year from July 19-21. This is the biggest bass tournament in
Sunset Country with a total cash payout of $80,000.00!
Fort Frances also has some worthwhile attractions including
their museum and newly-developed waterfront on Rainy Lake.
Climb the scenic lookout for a great view of the surrounding
area and enjoy an ice cream on a bench overlooking the water.
Fort Frances is well-known for its vibrant cultural and music
scene. Make sure once you get through Canada Customs that
you take a left and visit the Fort Frances Travel Centre where
you can take a selfie with a life-sized moose. Rainy Lake Square
is another new attraction located in the heart of downtown
Fort Frances.
