Galveston County Community Coalition, TEXAS
The Galveston County Community Coalition co-hosted a town hall meeting
on underage drinking with the Texas City Police Department. The public was
invited to listen to a panel of speakers discuss the physical, mental, legal,
and social consequences of underage drinking.
Wichita Safe Streets Coalition, KANSAS
The Wichita Safe Streets Coalition hosted a prevention rally and press
conference to help raise awareness about the issues of prevention and
substance misuse, gambling, and mental health that their community faces.
This rally featured 10 speakers from different community sectors (such as
youth, law enforcement, and faith-based institutions) who encouraged and
inspired the community to be involved in prevention.
West Virginia Canoe Association, Appalachian Boarding Company,
and Putnam Wellness Coalition, WEST VIRGINIA
The West Virginia Canoe Association, Appalachian Boarding Company, and
Putnam Wellness Coalition hosted “Paddling for Prevention” during NPW. The
group of partners encouraged youth in West Virginia to pursue physical health
and wellness instead of using substances.

Manchester Youth Service Bureau, CONNECTICUT
The Manchester Youth Service Bureau in Hartford, CT, and the Manchester
Police Department hosted a free community event open to the public,
“Dangers of Underage Drinking & Distracted Driving.” The event included live
demonstrations and interactive experiences, such as a rollover simulator and
impairment goggles. Its partners include the Manchester Police Department,
the Change Collaborative, Emergency Services, and other local organizations.
Rushford and the Meriden Health Youth Coalition, CONNECTICUT
Rushford and the Meriden Healthy Youth Coalition hosted a free naloxone
training during NPW. Their training topics included prevention strategies,
signs and symptoms of overdose, Narcan administration training, Good
Samaritan laws, and support information and resources.
