You have a fascinating day job as a
nurse, what is your favorite part of your
career? with consistency the results will come! I promise
once you start to see your body change, you’ll find
the time to get your exercise in!
My favorite thing about being a surgical nurse is
being able to help my patients feel comfortable and
well taken care of in a situation that can be quite
scary for them. I get great gratification knowing that
I make a difference in someone’s healing process.
I also really enjoy that no two days are ever the
same. My job is never boring because things
change drastically on a daily basis. If you could travel anywhere in the
world, where would you go?
How do you find time to balance your
career with your fitness goals? What is your favorite exercise and why?
I take fitness very seriously as I do my career. Both
are equally important in my life. Sometimes I have
to sacrifice sleep to ensure I can make it to the gym;
when in competition prep I usually go to the gym
before work which requires me to get up at 5 am.
I find that working out before work as opposed to
after gives me energy and helps me make healthier
choices throughout the day. With that being said
there are mornings where I just need that extra hour
of sleep and on those days you’ll find me in the gym
after my 12 hour shift. When you want something
bad enough you find a way to make it happen.
This is a tough one for me! There are so many
amazing places I would love to visit. If I had to pick
I would chose the Polynesian Islands. Something
about those over water bungalows and the crystal
clear turquoise water intrigue me beyond belief!
My favorite exercise would have to be the machine
preacher curl. I love the burn I get when doing them
and the soreness that comes the next day! I always
push myself on that machine and love the pump I
get after I’m done my 4 sets!
Why do you compete with the NPAA,
what has been the highlight?
I have nothing but positive things to say about
NPAA! From the wonderful founders, to the staff
and volunteers, to the competitors, everyone is so
humble and welcoming. I’ve competed with NPAA
at four of their Calgary shows in the past 2 years
and have made many friends along the way. The
highlight of my experience with NPAA would be
winning the 2017 Canada Classic and becoming
the 2017 Bikini Model Champion! Also having
the opportunity to be featured in this magazine is
something I am so grateful for and will never forget!
Thank you again!
Who do you hope to inspire?
I hope to inspire anyone who feels like their lives
are too busy for fitness. You don’t have to be in
the gym for hours every day to see progress! Start
small; do what you can. Take a fun fitness class a
few times a week or join a local boot camp for that
extra motivational push. Every little bit helps and
